Spin Off City - Shakedown

It's gloriously sunny, warm and pleasant... so naturally myself and a bunch of mates are indoors watching DVDs and videos :)  First up, Shakedown.

Not too much to say about this one other than it's a very pleasant way to pass an hour or so.  Get together a cast of scifi familiars, a writer who knows how to put together a simple and compelling tale and a bunch of fans who have the enthusiasm to actually get something done and you end up with "Shakedown - The Return of things that could just about pass for Sontarans".  Okay, so the masks aren't particularly good and it's the first time we've seemingly had a deliberately comedy Sontaran (something that Big Finish have just used to great effect in Heroes of Sontar) but it's definitely got spirit! It's helped by some atmospheric location filming on HMS Belfast and Carol Anne Ford's superb eye make-up (she gives a surprisingly good performance) but let down by a dodgy virtual reality sequence.

For the start of the afternoon's viewing it was pretty damn fun.
